Super insightful!
I have been at UTAK a little longer than a decade and I can safely say you are the first person I know of making their own brain control. I had no idea that was even a thing but it totally makes sense.
I appreciate your time and all this great info you shared. If there is ever anything I can do to support you please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you,

Subject: RE: UTAK- Question about your testing
Thanks for the information!
The tissues we perform analysis in are typically liver and brain. We homogenize the tissue to make it appropriate for pipetting. We also do muscle tissue, but that is rarer.
The vast majority of our controls are prepared in methanol; however, we choose the solvent that the compounds are soluble in. Occasionally that can be ethanol, DMSO, or acetonitrile.
For all quantitations we have 2 levels of quality controls, 1 low and 1 high. This can be achieved with mid-level stock solution, pipetting varying amounts to achieve the low and high, or 2 stock bottles of 2 different concentrations. Some quantitations and controls are single analyte, while others are multidrug methods.
I hope this helps answer some of your questions! Thank you.
