31080 lost business
Dec 03, 2025 08:27 PM
Hi Gabby,
Thanks so much for this update! I canβt say I have ever heard about corn pudding, but if I see it out I am going to try it. I am currently 2 days past EXP on a pecan pie and conducting my own validations to see if its safe to eat. Working off the theory if its covered in cool-whip, it canβt hurt me. So far so good π
I really appreciate the feedback on 31080 and the opportunity to try to work through this issue. I am happy you found something that is working better for your team. Could you share a little insight into what you are using now? I would love to share this with our team for future product improvements.
Thank you,
Andrew Hartmann

Good morning Andrew!!
I sure did, how was yours? π Personally can't live without my corn pudding! 10/10 recommend. Also, you can never go wrong with mash potatoes and gravy!
Thank you for checking in! Apologies, our lab has been busy and as of today we have not tried the following samples of QCs, but we are planning to test them out.
β’ Pain Management (PM100) -REF21080
β’ Pain Management (PM100)
β’ Blank Whole Blood - 44600-WB(F)
β’ Certified Drug Free Urine (Liquid) - 88121-CDF(L)
We decided to look for another control to replace the following product we had purchased from UTAK:
β’ Ethanol 80 - REF31080
This was due to our analysts noticing that there were small humps in their chromatograms for our LMQC (low aqueous mixed volatile control - 0.0192 g/100 mL), these are typically run after the BQC1 (the 80 mg/dL ethanol control from UTAK). We also found that the concentration for Methanol was high in the FID2B. We believe that something from the UTAK ethanol control is causing carryover and causing the methanol to be almost double the target concentration. You were gracious enough to send us a new lot, and we had the same issue. We found a work around it and added a blank sample after we ran the control. We found another control from another vendor that worked better for us! I can't thank you enough for your support and help throughout the year! π
Best, Gabby.
